Our process
Every piece we create begins with a story - your story. At Irene & Jenny, we believe heirloom jewellery carries more than beauty; it carries legacy, emotion, and a deep connection to the people who wore it before. Our process is designed to honour that history, while transforming your treasures into meaningful, wearable art that continues your family’s story into the future.
1. Consultation
Our process begins with a personal consultation, either in person or virtually, where we take the time to get to know you and your heirloom pieces.
This is more than just an assessment of jewellery - it’s a moment to reflect, to tell the stories of the people who once wore these treasures, and to share what they mean to you.
Whether you bring your grandmother’s wedding ring or your father’s cufflinks, we listen carefully and gently guide you through what’s possible. This first step is intimate, emotional, and the foundation of everything we create together.

2. Design concepts
Once we understand your story and what you'd love to create, Anita takes that inspiration and begins to sketch.
She draws three original design concepts by hand - whether for a ring, a bracelet, earrings, or a necklace - each one thoughtfully blending personal symbolism with timeless elegance.
These designs are deeply informed by your family's legacy and your vision for the future. You’ll see elements from your original piece subtly woven into something new, ensuring nothing is lost - only transformed. It’s where memory meets artistry.
3. Choosing your design
Selecting a final design should feel exciting and considered, not rushed or abstract. That’s why we turn Anita’s hand-drawn sketches into highly detailed CAD renderings and create 3D-printed models of each option.
You’ll be able to physically hold and try on each model, allowing you to truly connect with the designs and see how they fit and feel.
It’s a tactile, emotional experience that helps make your final decision deeply personal and confidently made. This step bridges the past and the present in the most tangible way.

4. Master craftsmanship
Once your design is chosen, our expert craftsmen get to work. They begin by carefully deconstructing your heirloom jewellery, treating each component with respect and precision.
Then, using traditional techniques and modern mastery, they craft your new piece by hand. Every curve, setting, and polish is handled with care, ensuring your finished jewel is not just beautiful, but meaningful.
This isn’t mass production — this is old-world craftsmanship, elevated by personal significance.
5. Legacy Book
While your jewellery is being crafted, we begin curating your bespoke Legacy Book - a keepsake that captures the journey of your heirloom, from past to present.
We sit down with you to record the stories, memories, and relationships behind your original pieces, accompanied by photographs and reflections on the transformation process.
The result is a beautifully bound book that serves as a tangible memory - a family heirloom in its own right, telling the story behind your new jewellery so it can be passed on with love and meaning.

6. Hallmarking & valuation
Every Irene & Jenny piece is officially hallmarked and valued at the historic Goldsmiths’ Hall Assay Office in London — one of the oldest and most respected institutions of its kind in the world.
We are proud to carry our own registered maker’s mark, meaning every piece we create is stamped not only with its metal purity, but also with a symbol of our craftsmanship and integrity.

Hallmarking isn’t just a legal requirement — it’s a tradition that ensures your jewellery’s authenticity and value are recognised for generations to come.

In addition to hallmarking, we also arrange a professional valuation for your finished piece. This means you’ll receive a detailed insurance valuation certificate, giving you peace of mind and allowing you to properly protect your heirloom for the future.
7. Delivery
When your new piece is ready, we deliver it personally, beautifully packaged in a keepsake presentation box alongside your completed Legacy Book.
It’s more than a delivery — it’s a celebration. We’ll take the time to walk you through your new piece, revisit its origins, and reflect on the journey together.
It’s a moment filled with meaning and emotion — the perfect culmination of memory, artistry, and transformation.
