Best of Bespoke: Anya Hindmarch

In 1987 at the tender age of 19, Anya Hindmarch started her own business. Her inspiration for bespoke designs stemmed from the indifferent and mass-produced fashion industry.

Anya explains that “bespoke is exactly what luxury should be. Old-fashioned luxury is about having something especially made for you. It’s something that has a story”, and this is exactly what her bespoke shop does. From hand-written messages in ring boxes, to a bespoke bag with a message inside, Hindmarch successfully incorporates luxury with personal memories.

A craftsman works in the bespoke Knightsbridge store on an array of leather goods including journals, bookmarks, wallets, purses and handbags. It’s impossible not to fall in love with every intricate detail of each handcrafted piece, so it’s no wonder so many high-profile celebrities such as Claudia Schiffer and Princess Diana have been well-known fans of the brand.
